TIBETAN BUDDHIST TINGSHA SET (Ting 03)
Price: £110 (including postage Worldwide)
(Tibetan: Ting-shags)
Origin: Tibet or Nepal
Age: 100 - 400 years approx
Diameter: 60mm (2.3 inches approx)
A very old set of Shaman's or Buddhist small ritual cymbals.
Tingsha are used in Tibetan Buddhism as part of specific rituals, very often associated with food and food offerings, where they are rung to summon 'the hungry ghosts'.
They are also used by some Tuvan and Mongolian shamans, who ring them while calling to their spirits and the powers of creation.
This is a very rare old village cast set - old sets like this are very hard to find. They have holes in each side as they were often used as money - traded crom Tibet to Nepal and back again. It is possible that these have been used as money or trade items at some point in their history.
They are plain and hand cast with a delightful bumpy hand made quality to them and a nice patina from use. The are strung on a length of raw silk material which is much newer than the cymbals.
They have a bright sound.

QUARTZ CRYSTAL - ROCK CRYSTAL BUDDHIST DORJE (Item No. Dorje 01)
Price: £90 (including postage Worldwide)
(Sanskrit: Vajra - Tibetan: Dorje)
Origin: Nepal
Age: unknown
Length: 93mm (3.7 inches approx)
Well carved quartz dorje.
Rock Crystal has been used in Tibetan Buddhism for many centuries as a symbol of emptiness, and so for a long time hand carved crystal objects have been used as sacred objects. This is probably a more recently made dorje and was probably not done by hand, but it is, none the less, a splendid rock crystal object that would be suitable for putting on an altar or using in ceremony.

The dorje is dirty with nice patina from use. It has a stip of old red cloth wraped around the middle and has traces of red tika offering powder in grooves in the casting.
A very nice, heavy, old brass dorje - which would be excellent to use as a ritual object or added to a collection.

SHAMAN'S JINGLE CONES - (Item No. Jingle Cones 01)
Price: £17.50 each (including postage worldwide)
Origin: Mongolia
Age: Recently made
Length: 82mm (3.3 inches approx)
A set of three, hand-made, iron, shaman's jingle cones, fixed on an iron ring.
Jingles like this are used all over Siberia and Mongolia, and even appear on some Nepalese shamans objects. They are often tied to costumes, drums and other objects.
I have managed to obtain a larger quantity of recently made cones from another source to the ones I had, and at a lower price. These cones are hand made by a Mongolian shaman, who also does metal work, called Budzana who lives close to Ulaanbaatar.
Numbers are limited - I do not know if I will be able to get any more once they have sold out.
Currently in stock - 40 sets.

(Metal jingle cones, a tiger bell, and other items tied onto an Evenk shaman's costume)
