A most wonderful, well cast, thick and heavy ancient bronze mirror. The mirror is in excelent conditon with just one small bit of damage to the rim at the back of the mirror. The front shows a lot of high polish still but has some green corrosion in places.
The mirror is sound and usable - it is much thicker than most mirrors and is perhaps the heaviest mirror I have ever sold. A wonderful and rare ancestor object.

A very rare enamel covered ancient Han style mirror. It is beautifully made with very fine craftsmanship and casting, and it is possible the mirror itself may actually be an original han mirror that has had a later coating of enamel.
Both sides of the mirror have been enameled, and the enameling is sound except for tiny areas which have chipped off over time. The bronze under these chips is now corroded. Most of the face of the mirror has a highly reflective surface due to the layer of beautifully polished enamel, giving a black reflection.
A very rare and attractive mirror that is sound and usable for ritual use.

A very pretty old mirror with chrysanthemum pattern. The central boss is in the form of a turtle and the mirror also has two cranes upon it. The chrysanthemum pattern (which stands for long life) is often found in Japanese mirrors but also appears in Korean and Chinese mirrors< Bronze mirror traditions were interchanged between these three countries historically and despite the Japanese elements this mirror could be from any one of them.
The mirror is in perfect condition, with just the wear and patina one would expect from such an old mirror. It is a very pretty mirror with it's design and would have been a very high value object when it was first made.
A rare, stunning mirror that is sound and usable for ritual or decorative use.

A very well made Tang dynasty style mirror, although I think it is a much later copy of an older mirror rather than an original Tang (618 - 907 ce)
The mirror is in perfect condition, with a nice woven style pattern on the back and a lotus flower around the central boss. A very attractive mirror that is most usable for ritual or decorative use.
WESTERN HAN OR TANG DYNASTY STYLE BRONZE MIRROR (Item No. Toli 05)

A large attractive well made old mirror. It is in an early style and could be that early, but I suspect it is a later copy. Ancient mirrors were often copied in later dynasties, especially the King dynasty, the ancient forms have remained very popular across the centuries.
The mirror is in good condition with an attractive back pattern to it. It is a large and quite heavy mirror. It does not show much sign of being polished on the front and the hole in the central boss has not been drilled out so without work the mirror could not be suspended. The mirror shows signs of age and the patination on it is not that found in recent faux copies of older mirrors. I believe the mirror to be old and original - but probably centuries old rather than millennia.

A nice old simple shaman's mirror. Mirrors like this are cast by the shamans themselves or by blacksmiths working for them. They are often in the form of very ancient han style mirrors which are the sort the shamans like to use when ever they can get them.
The mirror is in good condition but at some point in it's history it has lost it's back boss so the mirror can now no longer be hung. this does not effect it's use other than it can no longer be worn around the neck

This simple shaman's mirror is made of brass and has Chinese letters on the back in a style generally called a 'Four Happiness Mirror.' They are very sought after by shamans.
The mirror is in good condition with just some old scratches in the front. It is a cast mirror and quite light. It's small size would make this ideal to wear around the neck for long periods of time and it is small enough to hide under clothing. A very nice small shaman's mirror and amulet.

This old, small bronze Chinese mirror has a floral design on the back in the form of an 8 petal lotus.
The mirror is very old and with a patina associated with it's long life, but it is sound and could be gently cleaned up with very little effort if you so wished. It's a beautiful small shape and would be a nice mirror to wear around your neck or tied to other ritual objects.

A small bronze mirror in the style of an ancient Warring States period mirror (453 -221 bce).
The mirror is old, but I do not think it is an original Warring States period mirror. It's a very attractive small mirror and would be a nice to wear around your neck or tied to other ritual objects. It is in good condition but has a small hole. There is a ring of old copper (?) threaded through the hole so it can be hung on a ribbon or string.

A simple small bronze mirror with a simple loop on the back for hanging it from.
The mirror is very old and although sound is quite corroded. It has great age but could be cleaned up should you wish to. If it was cleaned it would make a wonderful mirror to hang around the neck or tie onto another object. It had a well polished face , traces of which can be still seen under the corrosion.

Attractive small mirror made in the form of a carp pond with 5 leaping carp appearing to come out of the water. The central boos on the back of the mirror is in the form of a dog, snow lion or some other animal.
The mirror is old and shows a well polished front face under the patina that has been generated over time. It is in the style of a Liao dynasty mirror (907 - 1125 ce) but it is probably a more recent copy.
A very desirable small mirror suitable for ritual use and easily wearable under clothes.
