SEVERED HEADS WRATHFUL ALTAR OFFERING (Item No. Altar Item 01)

Small, old, bronze casting of three severed human heads with their hair pulled up as if they were being carried by it. This is a wrathful offering from a Mongolian Buddhist altar and is a very unusual piece. There are traces of gold on the faces of the heads, at one time they would have been completely gilded
The heads are in good condition except for a small break in the base, where a small section of the side of the base is missing. This is a very old break.
A unique object, finding another one is very unlikely.

Tibetan Buddhist sacred water container with cloth skirt (of more recent construction than the bhumpa) and faux jewel decoration.
Bhumpas are important object on a Buddhist altar, used to hold water used for daily offerings. They are also used to bless people, places and objects too by flicking small amounts of water (often by means of a peacock feather) on them. Water once put ina bhumpa is concidered to change from water into amrita, the elixir of immortality.
The bhumpa has had a few 'dings' in it's life, but basically is in good condition and holds water with no leakage. Peacock feathers not included.

Tibetan Buddhist mandala offering set, consisting of a base, three rings and a top. Probably silver plate rather than solid silver.
Mandala offerings are towers of precious objects such as semi-precious stones or cowre shells which are symbolicially built to represent the whole universe - this is then offered to the Buddhas and other Buddhist beings. Often a completed mandala is kept on an altar to represent the sacred mountain at the centre of the world, the three worlds and the four directions.
The mandala set is complete and in good condition, suitable for personal practice.

Heavy, brass, traditional incense burner with a tigers face on each side which act as handles when the burner is in use.
The burner is in good condition and has great charm. This is a delightful incense or smudge pot for ritual use.

Well carved quartz dorje.
Rock Crystal has been used in Tibetan Buddhism for many centuries as a symbol of emptiness, and so for a long time hand carved crystal objects have been used as sacred objects. This is probably a more recently made dorje and was probably not done by hand, but it is, none the less, a splendid rock crystal object that would be suitable for putting on an altar or using in ceremony.
